The poison was mixed with bicarbonate by a competent person. not clear if murder intended. Dr Wood cautions ante mortem and postmortem signs can mimic multiple causes. Milwaukee treasurer Wyatt dies after yearlong illness at 66. longtime Richland Center official and city treasurer for two decades.
President W. T. Harper of the University of Chicago leaves on the Twentieth Century Limited for New York to meet J. D. Rockefeller and later receive X ray treatment for cancer at Lakewood New Jersey. He is accompanied by Dr Joseph F Smith Samuel Harper and Miss Cobb. He walks and gains strength after recent operation though a coughing spell tore out stitches delaying convalescence. He hopes to return April 1 but doctors may delay.
Washington March 14. Franklin B Loomis first assistant secretary of state will be appointed as the new American ambassador to Mexico succeeding Edwin H Conger who will retire next summer to run for the governorship of Iowa.
At the annual stockholders meeting in Philadelphia on March 14 the Pennsylvania Railway Company authorized a new bond issue not to exceed 56 million dollars. The Timer reports new independent lines forming to build a Kansas City refinery for crude supply by pipe lines from Kansas. Leaders including Marehil As and A L Levy plan a facility costing about 0.75 million dollars with a daily output of 23,000 barrels of crude oil.
In Buffalo on March 14 the supreme court opened procedures to secure a jury for the trial of Alonzo J. Whiteman. He is jointly indicted with Joseph Boothman and Joseph P. Hart for devising a $9,600 draft drawn against Fidelity Trust Company of Buffalo on July 2, 1904 and subsequently drawing checks against it.
Senator Elkins of the senate committee on interstate commerce said hearings on railway rate issues will begin Monday, April 17 at 10 30 a m. The committee lacked a quorum when called, but Elkins obtained member views and set the date.
Madison March 14 The Wisconsin Supreme Court today affirmed the lower court ruling in the Michael Dunn Milwaukee bribery case. Dunn was found guilty of accepting a bribe from the Pabst Brewing Company. Attorneys plan to seek a second appeal on a new point.

Ely Minn March 14 George Byracs a porter whose home was Ontana gon Mich was burned to death in a fire that destroyed the Wall hotel a four story building of 100 rooms. Many guests were rescued by ladders and lost all their personal effects. The loss was 35000 partly insured.
