Washington March 13 President Vien informed by four rail brotherhoods leaders that in case of war no strike will be called on key rail systems. Brotherhood chiefs pledge to stand by the President in hostilities and hope to reach agreement with railroad managers Thursday. No strike order was mentioned for that meeting. reports say a progressive strike could begin on eastern roads Saturday if talks fail. President Wilson remains in touch through Secretary Wilson as lawmakers delay potential extra session.
Washington March 13 reports reaching here today say about sixty German submarines were captured and destroyed between January 1 and February 18, the first authoritative report of Allied forces. If this rate continues, Germany’s submarine threat may be forced to yield as the Entente presses the fleet war.
