Ten Injured In Folsom Prison Riot
FOLSOM Calif Ten convicts were injured in a race riot in a mess hall at Folsom Prison. Six are Negroes and four whites. The warden said the outbreak stemmed from tension over a black supremacist Muslim sect and warned of possible further clashes. A white inmate sparked the melee by tossing a tray. Guards fired warning shots to the ceiling as prisoners ducked under tables. two men were wounded by stray bullets. Earlier that day 24 Negroes, including 11 Muslim leaders, were moved to Soledad Prison to ease tensions.

Southern Pines North Carolina police chief C Ed Newton aged 63 was shot while attempting to arrest Willie Eagle Eye Gray 48 at Gray s home.
