The Crown Prince of Morocco halted rescue and ordered demolition in Agadir after an earthquake that killed 5,000 to 6,000. Rescue teams from many nations struggled through ruins as disease fears rose and rats swarmed sewer breaks. Only 808 bodies were recorded. others were buried by families.
A Fillmore California fire killed five children who hid in a two room home while their ranch worker parents worked. Victims Irene Juarez 12 David 10 Delia 8 Bobby 5 and an unidentified boy died in the blaze. Investigators say the children were found huddled in a bedroom as the fire consumed their home. The site is being explored for potential redevelopment and industry attraction.
Representative William K. Van Pelt said E R Quesada of the federal aviation agency informed him that $65,000 in federal funds have been allocated for improvements at the Winnebago County airport in the coming fiscal year. The money will be used to build a taxiway from the terminal area to the west end of the east west runway with connections, widen the apron, and fence areas as needed.

Police say they likely died from asphyxiation due to a faulty gas furnace. The family was last seen Monday. Ocel Pearson found the bodies. The home was filled with gas fumes.
