U S circuit court of the eighth district rules the purchase of Southern Pacific by Union Pacific did not amount to a direct restraint of interstate or international commerce. Attempt to Wreck Train Near Milwaukee Yard

A Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul passenger train was deliberately wrecked outside Milwaukee as a switch was sabotaged with a bolt and stones. The train, traveling about forty mph, plunged onto a side track but narrowly avoided the river. Pfeil accused of poisoning wife in baking powder case

A Sheboygan court heard Julius Pfeil’s second wife, now split by divorce, allege poisoning via baking powder in pancakes. She says Pfeil offered $1,000 to leave and discussed rope threats. veterinarian Pfeiffer testified Pfeil once asked for carbolic acid, then forgot it after the wife’s death.

Bandit Robs Saloon on Lake Street in Appleton

A lone robber entered the 8. C. Sinkule saloon on Lake street at about 10 45 pm, forced the owner and two strangers to surrender, and pocketed about $4 in coins before escaping toward the Northwestern and St. Paul switch yards. Police pursued but made no arrest.

Senate panel backs New Mexico Arizona statehood bill
