George Roe of Thorn City and Lydia Raanch of the town of Omro were married at the bride’s parents home with Rev. A I Mann officiating. Attendants were Roe’s sister Nellis Roe and bridegroom’s brother Carl Raasch. Guests included relatives and a wedding supper was served. The couple will reside on Prospect Avenue. The groom is a machinist.
Oshkosh and Fond du Lac Electric Railway leaders including Whitcomb and Dr Pritchard visited Fond du Lac to review a possible Forest Avenue extension. They toured Omro by interurban car and conferred with local lawyers before inspecting the Fond du Lac line, with plans to return later. The Fond du Lac expansion would hinge on securing rights and a new bridge construction by the city.
Discussion on interurban lines cites no firm Fond du Lac extension. President Whitcomb and company indicate only potential future use of Forest avenue for interurban data with no new Fond du Lac route planned. Local interest in a Winneconne connection remains unresolved and political implications noted.
Floyd F P Smith and Miss Ida Mansen wed at the bride's parents home on Rosalia Street in a ceremony conducted by Rev. Herman Irek of Bowen Street Lutheran Church. Attendants included bridesmaid Bertha Putts and best man William Smith. A wedding dinner followed with the couple and guests in attendance.
The Hansen home hosted a wedding with pink and white flowers and guests from Weyauwega and Fond du Lac including Mrs Minnie Smith and William Smith as the bridegroom’s mother and brother. The Smiths left for Weyauwega by 2:42 PM Wisconsin Central train to spend a week, returning to 96 Hosaka Street in Oshkosh where Mr. Smith works for Oshkosh Bedding and Couch Co.
Flem of Guilty In Entered by Marion Bennett who attacked his wife. Preliminary exam was set on assault with intent to do great bodily harm but amended to assault and battery. Bennett pleaded guilty and was fined $26 and costs or 30 days in the workhouse. Mrs Bennett was treated at St Marys hospital after the June 11 attack and has recovered.
The St Vincent de Paul Catholic church plans a new, modern edifice at the Thirteenth and Oregon streets site, with subscriptions to a building fund advancing. pastor Father A Bastian says construction could start early next year, following last night’s school graduation events and a first donation by St. Vincent’s School students for building stone.
The Kind Mother used to make a Dike blackberry compound from old-fashioned blackberry wine blended with spices. It is puréed and fragrant with cloves cinnamon and cardamom seed, with a touch of rhubarb and ginger. In concentrated small doses it was said to benefit young children.
A city business leader and an official discussed enforcing motorcycle safety laws to ban two riders on a single machine. They cited dangers from extra passengers blocking view, hindering steering, and causing sharp, wide turns that risk collisions with autos and pedestrians.
Fond du Lac Wisconsin June 20 Special to The Northwestern Reverend H Bonge, six years pastor at Immanuel Lutheran, received a unanimous call to become president of Eureka Lutheran. He wired acceptance and inquiry notes indicate his congregation supports his departure by the target date. Details on resignation timing and duties remain under discussion.
