Mayflower Ends Voyage At Plymouth

The Mayflower II sailed into Plymouth harbor towed by a Coast Guard tug the Yankton. Officials reported a large public works funding cut approved by the House Appropriations Committee reducing hundreds of millions from total fiscal year spending. The ceremony included a re enactment of the Mayflower Compact at Provincetown with the galleon halting for the event as tourists crowded the bay.

Oshkosh shopping survey shows high local purchasing

The Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce reports 8,116 home responses from April 1 showing over 90 percent local buying for meats groceries paints farm supplies and many other categories. Women’s wear shows mixed results with 76.5 percent for better dresses and 80.4 percent for coats and suits.

North Central Wins Safety Council Award

North Central Airlines was among 36 American airlines named as winners of the National Safety Council Award of Honor for having no fatal accidents in 1936. North Central, a local service line, serves several Wisconsin cities. Capital Airlines, serving Milwaukee, also received the award.
