United States Marshal H A Well of Milwaukee is in the city and will depart for Shawano this afternoon with two prisoners charged with breaking into the Embarrava post office on June 6 with intent to commit robbery. Richard Berry and Patrick Murphy were brought to the county jail Sunday by Deputy Webber. They were arraigned Saturday afternoon before United States Commissioner Dilllett and set for preliminary examination on June 43. If held for trial they will be returned to the county jail unless bail is posted, each unable to furnish $500 bail.
Arrangements are made to publish a county history of Winnebago County offering an enduring record of principal events up to the coming year. Publug V. Lawson of Menasha, a State Historical Society member, will compile it with assistance from Oshkosh and others. The work, the first since 1820, will rely on personal evidence from men who shaped the county’s history.

Eleven men are missing after a launch from the Minnesota ship Discovery grounds is believed to have struck a day and gone down near Norfolk Virginia. Officers say Lieutenant Rendall and five midshipmen from the Minnesota and one midshipman from Connecticut are among those missing or drowned. The fleet’s officers hold that the launch went down after striking something near twelve o'clock last night.
Acting Secretary of War Robert Shaw Oliver sends letters to state and territorial governors urging immediate alignment of militia organizations with regular and volunteer troops by January 21 next year under the Dick military act. Noncompliance could bar states from $2,000 annual militia support and must meet the clause requiring at least 160 enlisted, organized, uniformed militia per state senator and representative.

University funding faced cuts with women’s building and two-year pre-medical allocations reduced. Senate action left overall appropriations strained, signaling a potential future tax rise.
John Joseph Krumrich of Oshkosh died after a battle with cancer at age 14? He was a well known young man, a shoe department lead, and traveling salesman. He was born in Oshkosh on November 1, 158, educated at St Mary's, served in Company B of the National Guard, and survived by his mother Mrs Mary Krumrich, a sister and two brothers. Funeral plans pending with Rev Roman Schester officiating at St Mary's, burial at Riverside cemetery.
