At the Green Lake County Junior Fair opening night a paratroop ride broke near the top, throwing riders up to twenty feet. Ten people were aboard. six teens were badly hurt, including a mayor’s son, with several others treated and released. The device, operated by Tip Top Shows, showed a preexisting shaft break and no prior warning.

Menasha firemen were called to Marathon's River Street plant at 5 05 pm Thursday after alcohol was reported spilled in the elevator. Water flushed the elevator and surrounding area. Two girls were freed from the boiler room at Sheppard Park after being locked in. Firemen removed the door hinges and faulty lock to free them at 7 35 pm.
