Ore dock workers vote to return to duty and steel corporations outline a plan to reopen mines. Duluth dispatch notes no troops needed, talks proceed on wages and open ship, with officials stressing mutual interests and readiness to reemploy former workers.
London July 31 American ambassador to Austria Charles J Francis and his son and daughter in law Mr and Mrs J M Francis of Troy N Y are in London. He says relations between Austria Hungary and the United States are cordial and not improvable. He notes immigration matters rest with a special commission led by Representative Dillingham who recently visited Vienna. He accompanied Dillingham to Budapest and introduced him to Hungarian officials. After Dillingham left for St Petersburg he said the Vienna and Hungary visits were agreeable and profitable.
A Sauk City mother and her older daughter arrived in Waukesha to recover Olga Lundell, age seventeen, believed enticed by the Holy Jumpers in Sauk City since 1906. A habeas corpus order was issued by Court Commissioner D J Hemlock, returnable today, to secure the girl’s return to her home.
Eleven-year-old Richard Conley sprinted into a burning house to rescue a baby as flames consumed the Rean family home near Portland, Oregon. Earlier, Mrs. Thomas Ryan, mother of the infant, died from burns after kerosene sparked an oil explosion in the kitchen, igniting the house and fatally burning her three-year-old son before firefighters extinguished the blaze.

Olm, lawyer of Madison, received a fee of 5 and for expenses $6849. William W. Fricke, legislative counsel, fees, OM, and expenses, Berg George H. Noves expenses were $225 and the corporation spent £ 0 for printing. Governor Dasifson's veterans accepting the resignation of Wailwar Commissioner Barnes was made public today. The governor rejected Mr Barnes for his services to the state and to his ability. The Winnebago Traction company had legislative expenses of $114.13.
A bomb hurled at a residence occupied by Joseph Bienni and family in Philadelphia’s Italian quarter caused extensive damage and shattered windows a block away. Three others were wounded as bystanders fled the blast. motive remains unknown.
Francis Miles Finch aged eighty, former New York state judge on the court of appeals and former NYS Bar Association president, died. He wrote the ballad The Bilge and the Grey.

Colorado Springs coroner concluded Laura Matthews and Amos Rumbaugh likely killed themselves driven by unrequited love for Chicago magnate C A Coey and by intoxication and distress. Rumbaugh had planned to marry Matthews and travel abroad before his disappearance from Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania.

New York July 2 The Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe railway firm sold to J B Morgan and Co the portion of the 3 percent convertible bonds recently issued that were subscribed by stockholders. It is estimated stockholders subscribed at par for slightly more than $11,000 of the bond issue.
The railway commission has halted the Grand Trunk Railway in Canada and the company plans to appeal to the Supreme Court. The ruling could lead to a two cent fare for Canadians, affecting travel across the system.

Ex captain George W. Kirkman, serving three years at Leavenworth, has his habeas corpus petition denied by Judge Smith McPherson in Topeka. The ruling, addressing military prison time credits for good behavior, holds military judgments as consecutive rather than cumulative, remanding Kirkman for continued imprisonment.
