Dance Hall Fight Between Negroes and Whites in Medford
A teen age melee among about 50 Negro youths and large white crowds erupted at a Medford dance when a Black youth tried to cut in on a white couple. Police from five Greater Boston communities suppressed the disturbance within an hour. About 12 teenagers, including 16 year old Joseph W Sacco of Medford, were injured and Sacco remained hospitalized with a head injury after a stone strike. No arrests reported as officers directed the crowd toward exits and called in reinforcements. Continued on Page 11.

Chicagoan Held on Kidnapping Charge in Cabin Incident
Ralph E. MacEwen, 18, of Chicago, is charged with kidnapping and endangering safety by reckless use of firearms after authorities say he held a Milwaukee woman and her family captive for two hours in an Oconto County cabin. He appeared before Municipal Judge Joseph Fisher and bail was set at 2500 dollars and 200 dollars on the two charges. He was taken into custody in Laona after the incidents in Mountain and surrounding areas.

Wild Storm Slams State Causes Damage Across Wisconsin

Injured Buses Crash On New Jersey Turnpike
A collision on the New Jersey Turnpike involving two buses and a tractor trailer sent about 40 people to hospitals. Perth Amboy General reported 26 arriving, St. Peter's and Middlesex General in New Brunswick said 14 others were taken there. Most injuries were from the New Brunswick area. Police found three buses parked on the shoulder and a fourth pulling in when the crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. No fog was noted. The reason for the buses stopping remained unclear.

Heavy rains delayed plans to dig a 86 meter shaft while officials awaited safer conditions after the roof collapse trapped 12 miners and two drivers.
