The fifth America's Cup race faced light, shifting winds causing a drifting contest off New Jersey. Resolute at times led Shamrock, with Shamrock closing the gap as breeze weakened. By midafternoon both yachts battled becalmed conditions and shifting wind toward Asbury Park and the Highlands.
