President Johnson and Republican nominee Barry Goldwater met amid sharp exchanges to seek ways to avoid inflaming civil rights tensions in the campaign. Oshkosh Man Sentenced in Nevada Double Murder
Douglas Dahlke was sentenced in Reno to not less than 10 years up to life for second degree murder in the slaying of his wife Gloria Jean Dahlke on October 12. The minimum with good behavior is 8 years 4 months. He stood in Washoe District Court as the verdict was read after a jury convicted him last week. Dahlke had carried her body to Oshkosh and buried it in his stepfather's basement.

Child Killed Struck by Car in Appleton Area
A 23 month old boy, William Gosz III, son of Mr and Mrs William Gosz Jr of Menasha, was killed at about 7 25 am when he ran into a car driven by Harold F Wirth of Hilbert on Highway 114 near Appleton. He died at St Elizabeth Hospital. Coroner Le Roy Hughes and officer Irv Vice investigated. The child’s body was taken to the Laemrmrich Funeral Home.

Rustlers Take Alligator Hides From Florida Farm

Neenah resident Lawrence W Kasten, 35, of 762 W Cecil St, sustained a scratch on his left leg when the auto he was driving collided with another at 12 05 p m Thursday on Harrison Street near Winneconne Avenue. The other driver was James A Holt, 25, of 2022 E Columbian Ave Neenah, who pulled out from a driveway causing the crash.
