Two Killed On Highways In Wisconsin Toll Rises
The Associated Press reports two highway crashes killed Darrel C. Treichel 19 of rural De Pere and Edward J. Bourgeois 30 of Madison. Treichel died on Highway 9 near Wrightstown after his car hit a railing and flipped into a creek. Bourgeois died after his car skid off a county road 15 miles southwest of Madison and struck a tree.

Ex-Felon Kills Two Then Dies in Police Shootout
In Madison on Wednesday night Charles Belcher, 38, an ex-con released two days earlier, ambushed and killed Mrs Helen Vernig, 33, and Harold Koerner, 50, as they arrived at her home. A neighbor alerted police. Belcher was found crouching nearby and fired on officers, who shot him dead after his rifle jammed. The victims’ son Robert witnessed the scene.
