Washington D C There are 866 operating airports and airplane landing fields in the United States. W P McCracken assistant secretary of commerce found after a special survey of airway facilities and due to the current interest in air transport he predicted that by the end of 1927 there would be 1 060 such establishments serving flyers. During the past year more than fifty new airports have been established and twice that number of cities have set aside funds or have begun plans for modern airports.

Wisconsin Gains 33,000 In Population In Year Ended
Wisconsin population rose about 23,000 in the year ending June 30, Census Bureau estimates show a state total of 2,518,000, down from 2,885,000 a year earlier and 2,632,967 in 1920. Exports from Wisconsin in early 1927 dropped slightly from 1925 levels, led by automobile chassis and parts, with total U.S. exports rising 76 million in the first quarter of 1927.
