County Trunk Crash Is Fatal In Appleton
Benjamin R. Behm Jr. 41 of Appleton died at Mercy Hospital after his 1955 four door car struck the County Trunk W bridge over the Rat River. Coroner reports multiple skull fractures. The crash occurred at 1:04 a.m. with no witnesses. Six other Wisconsin highway deaths are noted, including former Illinois basketball star Don Sunderlage and his wife, among a toll of 440 for 1961.

Viet Nam Troops Kill 200 in Battle Southwest of Saigon
Government forces drove into a rebel stronghold southwest of Saigon and killed about 200 Viet Cong in a three hour battle in the Plain of Reeds. Authorities counted 187 Viet Cong dead. several hundred fled toward the Cambodian border. Government losses were 12 dead and about 60 wounded.

Two Trapped In Small Cave Near Bloomington Indiana
