Fugitive Brinkman Captured After Two-State Pursuit
Ronald E Brinkman a 21 year old Marine described as bronzed with red hair was captured in hazel brush after a two state terror spree. He faces federal charges of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution for kidnapping a Roscoe Illinois housewife and two counts of forcible rape in Dane County Wisconsin. A 60 day mental examination was ordered at a state hospital in Waupun. The manhunt involved 200 police and volunteers and followed a series of home invasions and hostage incidents near Blue Mounds Monticello and New Glarus.

Young Driver Dies in Crash North of Stockbridge
STOCKBRIDGE Calumet County Coroner Le Roy Hughes said 17 year old Gerald Graf of Stockbridge was killed when the car he rode in skidded on Highway 55 three miles north of Stockbridge, struck a tree and utility pole. Driver Van G Howerton 17 Chilton survived with injuries and is hospitalized. The incident raises Calumet County traffic deaths to six for the year and Wisconsin highway deaths to 491. It was the first traffic fatality of the weekend.
