Prison escape foiled at Alabama prison by guard fire
Montgomery Alabama. A guard wounded seven of eight convicts during an escape attempt at a prison cotton mill. The convicts tied two guards, built a 24 foot ladder from table tops, and started to climb when Tower Guard Fred Lindsey fired, sending seven to the ground and forcing the remaining to surrender.
