Governor Vetoes Reapportionment Plan in Wisconsin
Governor John W. Reynolds vetoed the Republican sponsored reapportionment bill for state Senate and Assembly districts. He argues Milwaukee County should have 26 Assembly seats, not 24, citing a 164,994 population increase since the 1960 census. Democrats push for 26, Republicans may pursue a 25 seat plan or a by‑resolution bypass. The issue also goes to the State Supreme Court in September for Reynolds’ redistricting suit.
