Harrington's Pay Boosted To 45000 At Wisconsin
Madison AP Wisconsin president Fred Harvey Harrington received a 3500 pay hike to 45000 a year, making him the highest paid state official and earning about 72 percent more than Gov. Warren Knowles. Kramer Trial Adjourned After Jury Selection
WAUKESHA AP The trial of Robert Kramer on five lesser charges was adjourned until Monday after jury selection and initial testimony. Kramer 27 of Milwaukee faces a fall trial on murder charges for the April stabbings of two women. His current appearance includes armed robbery false imprisonment and injury by conduct regardless of life in the alleged Sussex slashing and abduction.

Thirty-nine Danes from the Danish Home Guard arrived by charter bus for a six day visit to Waupaca. The Danish flag was flown beneath the American flag at city hall as part of a ritual. Sirek Named Director of Vocational District
William Sirek, longtime Oshkosh Technical Institute director, was chosen to run Vocational Technical and Adult Education District 12 after a four hour closed session. Canadian Air Force veteran charged in UBC sniper killings
A 35-year-old Canadian Air Force veteran, Arthur John Towell, appeared in Magistrate Court charged with two counts of first degree murder and two counts of attempted murder in the Vancouver shootings near the University of British Columbia. He asked for time to obtain counsel. a July 14 plea date was set. Police described a 20 minute spree from a two-story West Lith Avenue home that left a university professor and his wife dead, two women wounded, and a grandmother among the injured. Towell reportedly collected guns and homemade ammunition, with 13 firearms found in his home. Police spokesman called the act berserk. Towell surrendered unarmed after emerging from the home with hands in the air.
