Neenah common council asks for renewed talks with Menasha over the Nicolet boulevard dispute. A split involves removal and terrace width, with Menasha seeking a larger removal. aldermen warn the matter hinges on Menasha cooperation. Park projects, contracts, and licenses also advance at the meeting.
Alderman Loehning urged the police to patrol the dangerous areas near the water by the dam and behind the mills and the Chicago and Northwestern railway bridge, to improve safety for children and adults alike.
Harold Kuettl, 837 Second Street, Menasha, pleaded guilty in Justice Arthur J. Ales court to operating a vehicle while under the influence. He was fined 50 dollars and costs after being arrested early this morning on Racine Street.
Menasha Henry Dupont emerged winner in the weekend round robin tennis tournament sponsored by the Doty Tennis Club. Neenah James Henebry of East Franklin avenue pleaded guilty in Justice Gaylord Loehning's court to drunkenness and vagrancy. He faces 70 days in county jail plus $5 fine and costs, with 60 days for vagrancy and 10 days alternative sentence, to run consecutively after an arrest on July 4 and again last night.
Funeral services for Mrs Wenzel Herman of West Forest Avenue were held this afternoon at the Sorensen Funeral Home after a prolonged illness on Tuesday.
Calvin Tews 14, son of Mr and Mrs Emil Tews of Neenah fell from a river abutment below the Fox River dam while fishing. He died after 20 minutes in the water and failed resuscitation attempts at Theda Clark Hospital. Funeral set for Trinity Lutheran Me nasha with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Admiral Richard Byrd prepares a privatized push to fund a new Antarctic expedition aiming to remap vast polar areas. A farm home owned by Mr and Mrs Anton Youngwirth in Town of Poygan Winneconne Wis was nearly destroyed by a fire of unknown origin Tuesday afternoon The rural fire department fought the blaze for about two hours but could not prevent its spread as the 10 mile distance limited response Insurance partially covers the loss Neighbors aided including John Midke who suffered a cut breaking a window to save contents The Youngwirths and parents occupied the building relatives and visitors are noted with several local residents mentioned The Rev E W Griffith underwent an operation at Mercy hospital Oshkosh and other local family visits are listed author notes occurently in report
The B. T. Lewis family picnic and reunion occurred on Independence Day at Pickett Wisconsin. Visitors included Miss Marguerite Mackie and the W. Donald Flanagan family from Arlington Virginia. The Leich and Lewis families from Laona and Chicago also joined at the T. Lewis home for a summer gathering.
Neenah businesses including leading stores announce daily 3 PM closing hours for July and August except Saturdays. Elmer H. Radtke president of the Neenah Junior Chamber of Commerce said the earlier hour will give employees longer evening recreation during the heat of summer. Current closing times are 5 30 PM and 6 30 PM on Saturdays.
Neenah swelters as humidity climbs to ninety degrees with little relief from a light breeze. The heat keeps beachgoers away though some visit municipal waters, while golf and shopping suffer as more residents seek air conditioning and indoor cooling.
Twenty three members of the B. B. B. sorority of the First Congregational church completed the 21st annual trip with stops at Alpine lodge Egg Harbor and multiple prior lodges including Waverly Beach Camp Onaway Green Lake Devil's Lake and Birch Wood lodge. Highlights include a talk on Wisconsin Native Orchids by Albert M Fuller with slides, a campfire, and a Sunday orchid excursion to the Ridges sanctuary and a return via the northwest Elm tree sighting.

Committees of the Neenah and Menasha Junior Chambers met to outline plans for the state picnic and golf tournament to be held Sunday at Lakeview Park and Ridgeway Golf Club. Delegations from about 30 Wisconsin units expected. Twin Cities chambers to host.
Emil J Lehman, 920 Broad Street, died after an extended illness at Theda Clark hospital at 10:40 PM Wednesday. He had been ill for five weeks, previously treated at Wisconsin General Hospital in Madison. Born May 11, 1897 in Appleton, he moved to Menasha at age two and worked as a tinsmith for George Russell. Surviving are his mother Ida and a brother Fred, both of Menasha, plus other listed relatives.
Neenah workers walked off the job halting the sidewalk repair project and sewer work as about 65 WPA employees joined a countywide strike protesting longer hours without pay. The walkout followed news of a drowning at Neenah dam, delaying a city hall meeting. Wage scales under new WPA rules raise hours to 130 for the same monthly pay.
