The twentieth international Christian Endeavor convention opened in Cincinnati with the largest attendance on record. Delegates arrived in cool weather, attended receptions, and moved to the auditorium for the opening session. President Clark and Secretary Baer will speak as reports on progress are read. The event features multiple designated auditoriums on the old fairgrounds and new growth figures showing the society expanding from 16,274 groups in 1891 to about 61,427 now, with nearly four million members. The United Society elected officers Francis E. Clark, Wm. Shaw, John W. Baer, and W. F. Kidder, and created a new field secretary post for Rev. Clarance J. Berman.

Special to The Northwestern reports Waukau Wisconsin celebrated Independence Day with a morning parade and noon address by Samuel Woodward of Randolph. A 15 piece Peysippi band entertained though showers persisted. The Waukau team defeated Rush Lake 17 to 1 with Homer Hemp striking out seven. Fireworks closed the day with refreshments and a Modern Woodmen hall ball. Officers included Joseph Alger marshal and E. Hemp.
