One Killed Eight Hurt In Highway 41 Collision

A two-vehicle crash on Highway 41 near Fond du Lac injures nine people, killing Cath erine Krause, 39, of Wisconsin Rapids. Passengers in Otts pickup and hitch hikers suffer multiple injuries, with one badly hurt and two in critical condition. Sherriff reports all victims transported to Mercy Hospital and coroner's jury convened to view the scene and vehicles.

Cuban survivor eight days afloat after ship capsized

Prudencio Perdomo of Havana survived eight days in the water after the Tropical sank in the Yucatan Channel near Cuba. He was rescued by a U S Coast Guard cutter and treated for exposure in Key West in a rapid medical evacuation to his family. The ship's sinking occurred June 21 45 with other crew members missing.

Searchers hunt 14 year old missing girl in Littleton

In Littleton Massachusetts Kristin Siemen, 14, has been missing since Friday after a horseback ride. About 300 searchers on Sunday scoured the area with dogs and helicopters but found no trace. The horse was returned to the fence and investigators continue the search today.

Five Die Thr ee Hurt In Santiago Gunfight

Havana reports from across Cuba describe gun battles saboteur acts and mass arrests following a large Sunday rally in Santiago. A shootout near Santiago killed five and injured three as civilians opened fire on government soldiers then chased by police who killed three attackers. bystanders including a seven year old were wounded. The three hour rally faced radio jamming and sporadic outages as saboteurs cut cables and arson spread. In Camaguey rebels seized a radio station issuing calls to join the 26th of July movement. Animals Bolted in Centennial Parade Injuring Fourteen

Fourteen people were hurt during Appleton's Centennial Celebration parade when ponies bolted scaring spectators. Among the injured were Vernon Van Dyke and his four children, all treated on scene, while five others hurt by a separate horse were taken to a hospital and released after care.

Farm Owner Suffered Critical Burns In Major Barn Fire

The Doolittle farm near Omro suffered a massive fire that destroyed a 40 by 30 foot hoghouse and 75 by 42 foot barn filled with Jersey dairy cattle. Owner Phil Doolittle, 76, was burned severely and taken to Mercy Hospital in critical condition with third degree burns on arms chest and back. Ralph Reber and Leonard Ebert helped pull out equipment and animals as firefighters from the Omro department fought the blaze, which began around 9 o'clock this morning and caused substantial loss to machinery and straw valued at thousands of dollars.
