Frankfort Ky Jan 31 Goebel lies dying as crowds gather and armed troops guard the capitol. Legislature vacillates between sessions while Gov Taylor and allies move to seat Goebel by joint ballot amid threats, warrants, and mass mobilization in a tense political crisis.
Frankfort Kentucky January 81 reports that letters received from Middlesboro today claimed that Appellate Judges Haxteirigg and Hobson were to have been killed yesterday. The note influenced the postponement of the appellate court session as authorities investigate the threat.

Cincinnati January 31 Associated Press report says Burke superintendent of public instruction left his New Albany home after the Goebel shooting. He noted two well dressed men slept in his office overnight claiming hotels were full. Burke plans to go to Frankfort to aid investigators.
