Eden Lands Ike's Reply to Bulganin

British Prime Minister Anthony Eden arrived in New York aboard the Queen Elizabeth for talks with President Eisenhower. Eden called the President’s reply to Bulganin admirable and said the world tension was about normal as both nations pursue constructive steps for peace. He urged progress on the Middle East and noted Israel’s arms request is for Washington to decide, reaffirmed Formosa policy, and avoided committing on the H bomb.

Two Of State Hurt Slightly In Air Crash

In Peru Indiana a private all metal plane clipped a 265000 volt power line and crashed four miles south of the city. Pilot William Brehmer 21 and passenger Robert Boone 20 of St Francis Wisconsin suffered minor shock and injuries. Power to Peru’s 13000 residents was restored within 20 minutes while the nearby Air Force Base remained without lights for hours. The crash occurred during a foggy flight toward Cincinnati as the craft tried to locate Lafayette airport for a fuel stop.

West Hails Rejection of Red Proposal

London reports President Eisenhower rejected a Soviet 26 year peace offer to the United States. Moscow remained silent as Western observers saw the move as an attempt to split the Anglo American alliance. New York to Cairo Hop Ends in Paris

Airman Captain Shiam Judd, flying a Cessna sports plane named Star of the Red Sea, landed at Toussus-le-Noble Paris airfield after an attempted 6,000 mile flight from New York to Cairo. He began at Westchester County Airport and ended 24 hours 14 minutes later, deciding to land in France for safety and fuel concerns. Judd, with TWA connections and Cairo base, planned to continue toward Cairo in the next days.

Milwaukee Fire Devours West Milwaukee Building

State Toll Tops 1 Percent As Weekend Weather Hits Roads

Wisconsin’s traffic toll rose above 1 percent amid a weekend of ice and sleet, with several fatalities reported across the state. Authorities noted grim levels comparable to prior years as emergency crews responded to multiple crashes. In Green Bay, Ella Anderson, 52, died when her car struck a power pole and crashed into a house.
