He served thirty four years with the Wisconsin Guard and was widely known across the Second Regiment territory.
Albem Beyer, sixty years old, was instantly killed in Racine Wisconsin when his wagon was struck by a passing train at Racine Junction. The wagon was said to be caught by a descending crossing gate after the horses cleared the track and the team escaped unharmed.
In Madison on January 26 rumors spread at the capitol that William L. Essman plans to resign as superintendent of public property. Essman said he has not resigned but will meet Governor McGovern at 3 PM to discuss the matter. no reason is known.

In La Crosse Wisconsin on January 2 Mrs Mery Heugen accused Albert Wingated a married collector of attempting to caress her during a home visit to collect a bill. Jurors deliberated and awarded a monetary sum to the plaintiff in the case with details of the award not fully disclosed.
A motion to quash the conspiracy indictments against copper mining strikers and Western Federation of Miners officials was argued in the Shoughton circuit court. defense attorneys claimed improper grand jury summon and secrecy violations, and questioned Special Prosecutor Nichols authority. A Sunday afternoon concert at the Century clubhouse drew an enthusiastic crowd despite rain. Chane led a program arranged by Mrs I S Wilson with vocal and instrumental pieces by local performers. Nelle Smith sang several numbers while Morris Witten played piano, Ralph Wilson and George Caswell contributed violin and vocal pieces, Beasie Ryan and Morris Wilton accompanied. A final quip notes a spinster staying a miss.

Guests of honor include Mrs Stuyvesant Fish Mrs May Riley Smith and Miss C E Mason principal of The Castle school at Tarrytown.
Helen Keller and her teacher Mrs. Anne Sullivan Macy arrived in the city from Appleton this afternoon. They went to the Athearn hotel to rest before a Grand Opera House engagement under the State Normal school's auspices. Keller lectured in Appleton last Friday, drawing a large audience and many friends.
