Viet Cong Uses POWs as Decoys During Saigon Battle
Saigon officials said Communist forces offered to free 130 wounded South Vietnamese prisoners but used some as bait to ambush rescue teams. Allied air power hit a convoy of 100 trucks from the Cambodian frontier as 46 South Vietnamese and 325 North Vietnamese soldiers died in the three day clash.

A Jordanian Boeing 707 chartered by Nigerian Airways carrying Nigerian Muslim pilgrims from Mecca crashed at Kano Airport in high winds. The disaster killed 190 of 202 aboard, with four crew and eight passengers initially reported as survivors. Officials described a fiery crash with debris scattered along the runway and survivors rushed to hospital.

Two Oshkosh Men Skate 25 Mile Lake Winnebago Trip

Outagamie County reported its first traffic fatality of the year. Donald D. Denny, 35, of Kaukauna, died at the scene after his car overturned on County Trunk E. Three other passengers were treated and released. Denny’s wife Helen, 32, son Jerald, 9, and Patricia Stevens, 30, were hospitalized with abrasions and released. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Four gunmen surrender after four day siege in store
In New York four gunmen who held nine hostages for nearly two days at John and Al's Sporting Goods surrendered after police talks. One officer was killed and two wounded. Hostages escaped via a hidden second floor stairwell with co owner Jerry Riccio aiding.
