Bartenders Murdered in $25 Port Washington Hold Up
Three young robbers shot and killed bartender Alex Baumgarten during a $25 holdup at the Cold Springs tavern five miles west of Port Washington. They looted the cash drawer, bound customers and a sleeping employee, then fled in a tan Ford toward Saukville after disabling cars. Baumgarten died about 15 minutes after being shot. an inquest was ordered as sheriff’s deputies issued descriptions of the three suspects.
