Hijacking Foiled on Delta Flight 297 in Miami
A shotgun-wielding passenger tried to force a Cuba landing on Delta Flight 297 from Detroit to Miami. Stewardess Lynn Sargent vaulted into the cockpit and locked the door, allowing Captain Harold Rowley to complete the approach. Police arrested Kenneth McPeek of Orchard Lake, Michigan, with his three year-old son present, on armed assault charges. Youth In Stock Car Hospitalized After Snow Bank Standoff
Steve Darling, 14, son of Mr and Mrs Robert Darling, was taken by Waushara County sheriff's ambulance at 6 34 pm Saturday to the Wautoma Hospital, suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning. The car, driven by Darling, with Mark Wilcox, 11, and Steve, was found stuck in a snow bank on Pearl Lake Road just north of Redgranite. the two other occupants were awake but unconscious.

Man Dies After Warming Car In Garaged Oshkosh Home
An Oshkosh man, Peter Andrashko 26, died Sunday from carbon monoxide fumes after his car was warmed in a closed garage. He was found noon by his brother in the garaged vehicle. ignition on but engine not running. Coroner cites carbon monoxide as cause. He served in the Navy and Naval Reserve, was born November 24, 1942, and survived by parents, siblings, and extended family. Funeral services set for Seefeld Funeral Home with a memorial fund established.
