Car Skids Into Frain Three Killed In Rural Crossing
Three Waushara County men died when their car hit a freight train at a rural crossing on Highway 51 four miles north of Plainfield. Alvin Sorenson 34 Lawrence Chilewski 25 and Charles Humphrey 69 died after the car skidded 220 feet into the side of the engine and derailed a boxcar, traffic halted an hour. Two other fatalities reported include Harry Styms 19 Milwaukee from a overturned truck and John Ide 75 Chilton in another frosty-curve crash on Highway 57 near New Holstein.

Joseph Weicher of Green Bay, a 21 year old former inmate, has confessed to shooting two men at a Green Bay tavern just after midnight January 3. Tess Doherty, 58, and Wilbert Lewis, 43, a tavern patron, were found dead across from the Brown County Sheriff's Office.

Wisconsin Woman Gets Life for First Degree Murder

Fisherman Drowns As Car Sinks in Lake
CHILTON AP A ice fisher Vander Hyden drowned Thursday night when his car broke through thin ice and sank in Lake Winnessee about 69 feet from shore. John Vander Tryden, 47, vanished beneath the surface after sending Dan Verbeten of Kaukauna to shore for a rope. Verbeten said Vander Hyden was on the rear of the car as it plunged through the ice, urging him to fetch a rope rather than jumping to safety.
