Reports from Berlin say British forces fare badly on all fronts. A Turkish artillery blow sunk a transport near Gallipoli as Turks envelop British troops at Kut al Amara. Paris and London dispatches report heavy German offensives in Champagne and retreating Turkish forces in Mesopotamia amid Allied losses.
The British report heavy fighting along the Tigris banks with Turks in retreat. no Turkish guns or prisoners captured. Lt Gen Me Percy Noel Lake named to lead British Mesopotamian forces. Berlin claims French trenches taken while French sources say German assaults failed. French consuls allied with Teutonic powers arrested at Saloniki, placed aboard the cruiser Savoy.
AP reports a blast at the Dupont Powder works in Carney Point New Jersey killed three workers John ar Richard J and S T Cisc yne. Government agents and secret service plots were denied and officials said the blast was confined to a small building and not caused by outsiders.

George W. Rounds veteran farmer of Winnebago county died at his daughter’s home in Omro shortly before reaching 100 years old. Born in Illinois in 1816, he lived as a pioneer in the town of Eaceka and later years in Omro before his death at his daughter’s residence.
Therefore almost a hundred years old. He came to Wingebago county more than sixty years age and was for many years a farmer near the village of Eureka. For many years he has lived with his daughter and for the last ten years resided with her at Omre. He was in excellent health until the last few months when his vigor waned. He is survived by five sons and one daughter ex-County Treasurer Rounds of Amherst Wisconsin and Mrs Bates of Omro. There are also many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
George H. Noyes longtime Wisconsin legal figure and former member of the Wisconsin Board of Regents and Milwaukee Superior Court judge died suddenly in Clearwater Florida. He served as president of the Wisconsin Bar Association and was a key figure in Northwestern life insurance since 1963.
