Frank Vokiden cashier of the customs office in Cincinnati was summoned to appear before the grand jury to answer for a shortage connected to Charles Warriner. The investigation involves a Chicago defendant linked to the stolen Warriner funds and a separate case involving Mrs. Jeanette Stewart Ford, known as the woman in the vase, expected to go to trial midweek.

A Journal special from Hicee Lake Wisconsin reports a dynamite blast at the Hammond Lumber camp in Winter. The explosion killed three men: Sam Anderson of Colfax Wisconsin Wilg. J. salis bury of St. Paul and George Cummings of Rice Lake.
United States Senator Charles Dick officially enters the race for re election. Secretary of State Thompson, chief supervisor of elections, received a petition nominating Dick for senator signed by A. Noah of Akron's Second Ward.
Terre Haute Indiana coroner reports W H Thelman died after drink laced with poison in Chicago. He accused a woman involved in the white slave traffic of stealing $500 in jewelry and aiding his murder. Police nationwide sought the suspect after he noted her on a letter to the chief of police.
President Taft commuted a two year Leavenworth sentence for Arthur Simmons Jr. who was convicted of forgery. Simmons wished to attend his mother's funeral, which under district rules must occur within a week of the crime. With good behavior, the term would have expired tomorrow.
State Revenue Agent Wirt Adams filed suit against the Dunbar Lopez and Dukate company seeking penalties of 2,225,000 dollars claiming the 1868 formation of a restraint of trade in Mississippi. The alleged combination targets local factories and aims to control competition in the state.
London Jan 10 The second parliament of King Edward's reign ended today in a brief ceremony at Buckingham Palace. Four privy councillors attended as at 3:30 pm the king signed the proclamation dissolving the present parliament and summoning a new one to meet February 15.
