Thrilling Escape From Death On Ice Yacht
Three men from the Northern hospital for the insane at Winnebago faced a near tragedy on Lake near Washington street. Their ice yacht struck an open water hole, throwing William Jones into the lake. His comrades saved him with a rope, and Jones returned home to Pleasant avenue soaked and chilled. The ice boat sank, its mast just above water, and efforts will be made to recover it. The party then bought items to place in the boat before it disappeared.

Death of Former Oshkosh Resident Mrs Helenor Stuart
Mrs Helenor Stuart former Oshkosh resident died in December at the home of her son in law KR H Catlin Chicago aged eighty one. She lived at 80 Jefferson Ave Oshkosh and her husband painted at Merritt near Main. Born in Grechen Scotland 1829 she came to America 1851 with family and helped found the Congregational Church in Oshkosh. Survived by seven children James E Alexander C Robert Edgar Mrs Wilbur Mrs Caster and Mrs Catlin. Funeral readings and floral tributes from local and national figures accompanied a Forest Home Cemetery interment.

The Schmit Brothers Trunk Company held its annual meeting on Wednesday with unanimous votes to keep the same board of directors for the coming year. The directors include George Bauman, David Lawson, J Howard Jenkins, Leander Choate, A C Smith, GM Lindemann, and John Schmit. Officers were re elected: President George Bauman, Vice President David Lawson, Secretary A C Smith, Treasurer John Schmit. Capital stock was increased by 12500 to total 125900 due to expanded business.
