Secretary of State Dean Rusk urged against reckless action in Vietnam and said the United States would not abandon or expand the war. He ruled out a political settlement for now, asserting South Vietnam can turn back the Communist guerrillas amid the ongoing costly conflict. Continued on page 14.
Roger Hibbard aged 13 was killed when a .20 gauge shotgun discharged as he handed the weapon to a companion during a rural De Pere farm hunting outing. Brown County authorities investigated the accidental shooting near the victim's home.

Police in Zurich were called after two motorists in an accident argued over who would pay for the damage. Officers estimated the total damage to both cars at three Swiss francs, about 75 cents.
