Four miners were entombed and one killed when an explosion hit Mine No. 4 of the Midvale Coal company near Midvale. Eight rescuers entered the shaft but fumes knocked them unconscious. Driver Held for Inquest in Monroe Truck Crash
Janesville Wisconsin Ray Weng er Monroe Wis driver of a truck that collided with a car near Monroe last night killing two persons was held today for a coroner s inquest. His companion Charles Bloom Monroe also was held. The dead are Earl Erick 23 formerly of Albert Lea Minn and recently of Janesville Mrs Jennie Thomas 41 Janesville Matt Hanson 20 Janesville riding with Erick and Mrs Thomas was almost stamped and expected to die. Arthur Popplin 30 Peshtigo Wis fourth occupant of the car was slightly injured. The collision occurred seven miles north of here.
