Ground Is Broken For Oshkosh Telephone Building
Ground was broken mid-morning for the Wisconsin Telephone Company's Oshkosh building. The two to three story, reinforced concrete structure on Algoma Boulevard will house the dial telephone system and state division offices. The project, costing about 3.25 million dollars, was kicked off with Mayor Ernie Siewert turning the first shovel. The design features an exterior aluminum paning, wide front windows, granite trim, and a modern glass brick third floor, planned to boost Oshkosh as a regional hub.

Plane missing from Madison found near Adams County field
Civil Air Patrol said a light Piper Tri Pacer missing since Tuesday afternoon with three aboard was spotted 18 miles west of Plainfield. Two persons were seen near the plane in a wooded area between Adams and Wisconsin Rapids. Pilot Eric V Ericson 36 of Madison rented the plane from Four Lakes Aviation. Passengers were Soler Halverson 25 and Earl Gripestrog 28, both of Madison. The ground party had a fire and a CAP ground search coordinated with state patrol and Dane County authorities.
