Christmas spirit fills Oshkosh with fresh snow and expectant families. Churches plan special programs for children and midnights services to retell the birth of Christ. Home preparations, carols, and festive lights spread hope and peace as communities await Christmas Day observances.
The U S Army in Europe will entertain 75 000 Germans Italians and French at Christmas parties labeled Operation Good Cheer. Army personnel contribute thousands of dollars to fund the program with every installation in German Italian and French soil taking part.
In his Christmas message President Eisenhower calls for an open peaceful partnership with needy nations. He says the goal is a just peace and a life beyond bare coexistence, delivered after a White House Christmas pageant broadcast by radio and TV.

A blanket of snow covered much of the northern United States as pre Christmas storms hit the Midwest and East. Up to a foot or more fell from the northern plains to the Great Lakes, disrupting transit and holiday travel. The blizzards caused a heavy death toll, most from traffic accidents on snow slick highways.
Union Grove AP report says 73 year old Arthur Pellman was found beaten to death in his two room shack. Dist Atty Dexter Black calls the motive robbery and the murder the most brutal he has encountered. A bloodstained tire iron lay nearby and Pellman had been paid 100 dollars earlier that week. His wife is dead and a son Hatley lives in Elkhorn.
The December blizzard slammed Wisconsin with up to 16 inches in Eagle River and Rhinelander, 11 inches in Milwaukee, and heavy waves along Lake Michigan. Nine shovelers died of heart attacks, three motorists perished on snowbound roads, and a tractor accident killed a man. The storm halted major roads but left them open with extreme caution advised. Forecasters blamed a shifting low pressure system and unexpected moisture from the Gulf.
A severe wind snow storm caused a canopy to collapse at Friedrich's Super Market in Oshkosh damaging the storefront. Police and workers cleared debris, window glass shattered, neon lights damaged and the scene remained under pre-dawn inspection as crews assessed losses around 2 a.m. to about 3,000 dollars.

The FCC approved a airborne education experiment named Stratovision. Purdue University will telecast from an airplane over Indiana with viewers in Wisconsin Indiana Illinois Kentucky Michigan and Ohio. A DC 7 will circle Montpelier Indiana at 23 000 feet delivering two programs over 34 000 square miles. Funded partly by the Ford Foundation the project costs about seven million dollars and runs in the 1966 87 school year starting next September.
