Fall of wall disaster kills eight in city hotel row

A northwest gale toppled a wall near Fifth Street causing a hotel and adjacent building to collapse. Bishop Phelan Dies After Three Year Illness

United States Associated Press report notes Bishop Richard Phelan of the Pittsburgh Diocese, Roman Catholic, died at St Pauls Orphan Asylum in Turtlewood near Pittsburgh. He had resided there for years with nursing by sisters, gradually weakening before death.

British Vessels Seized Near Corea By Japanese

Japanese protected cruiser Tenshima captured the British steamer Nigretia off Ulsan and found contraband of war aboard. Nigretia, linked to Allan & Co of Leith, carried Russian officers fleeing Shanghai. A second capture followed as the British steamer King Arthur, bound for Port Arthur, was stopped by the Asagiri and sent to Sasebo for trial.

Mrs John Alyea Dies At 77 In Winneconne Wisconsin

Mrs John Alyea widow of the late John Alyea died Sunday night at her Winneconne home. She was 77 and had been in poor health. Survived by eight children and many grandchildren. Funeral from the Free Baptist church Wednesday at two, Rev J H Davis officiating. Burial in the village cemetery.
