A fireman at a post office building dashed out with ten thousand $10,000 gold certificates totaling $100 million. Spectators gasped as investigators soon learned the notes were canceled and worthless. He surrendered the invalid certificates to police.

Firemen Overcome In Heavy Smoke At New Post Office
Forty firefighters were overcome fighting a stubborn blaze in the new eight million dollar post office building. Six alarms sounded as flames and water destroyed filing cabinets and upscale fixtures. Deputy Chief Stan ton said forty of the 150 on duty succumbed to fumes and two required hospital treatment. Origin undetermined, the fire began in sixth floor storage rooms for accounting files. Twenty engines pumped hundreds of tons of water into the structure.

Frank Muchil 63 a Hariston town farmer was killed when a bull gored him at his farm two miles east of Menasha on Manitowoc road at 4 pm Thursday. His wife found him unresponsive. he died before help arrived. He had lived in Harrison 52 years. Survivors include wife three sons Sylvester Ervin Roman and four daughters. Funeral Monday at Holy Angels church Darboy with Rev. Emil Schrudt officiating. Burial in church cemetery.

A masked man held up the North Milwaukee State bank near 1 p m and escaped with about 5900 after forcing Bernice Twnst the 21 year old clerk to fill a change for a five dollar bill. The thief fled in a green cloth bag, leaping into a car and vanishing into traffic while two city employees gave chase. Police traced the alert to a nearby bank but the crime remains unsolved.

Hunt for driver of hit run car kills man in Marinette
Authorities hunted today for the driver of a small Ford hit and run car that killed 41 year old Raymond Trakowski and injured Henry Tauseh as they walked along Highway 141 last night. Tauseh, with a broken leg, told the sheriff the car crashed through a guard rail after hitting the men, then sped south.
