Kappell death verdict leaves cause undetermined
A coroner’s jury in Oshkosh failed to determine whether 18 year old Stephan Kappell died by murder or self destruction. After nearly 11 hours of testimony and 20 minutes of deliberation the jury recommended the case remain open for further investigation. The search for answers about his disappearance from UW Oshkosh on Sept. 28 and the nude body found Oct. 16 at Lake Winnebago will continue. The absence of motive weakened the murder theory though some physical evidence supported it. Three psychiatrists offered possible self destructive causation. The inquest concluded, pending further inquiry.

Five women died when three cars and a semi trailer collided at the Illinois 51 and 75 junction in South Beloit near Beloit Wisconsin.
