At Langley Field Virginia military and civilian officers sought Justice Department aid after a shooting last night that killed Technical Sergeant Clem H. Kelly and his 2 year old son Clem Jr. An 8 year old daughter Irene was seriously wounded. A 17 year old nephew Buster Russell was confined at the post guardhouse. The gunfire occurred about 633 PM. Five shots were said to have been fired. four bullets recovered. Russell admitted firing the shot that hit the sergeant, claiming the rest were accidental while he played with Kelly s service pistols.

Noted Egyptologist Dr James Breasted Dies in New York
Dr James Breasted famed head of the Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago died early today at Presbyterian Hospital in New York. He was 70 and had been ill after a voyage aboard the Conte Bi Savoia. His death ends a long career as a leading Egyptologist and explorer who helped uncover the tomb of King Tutankhamen.
