The 1936 Winnebago county fair and exposition begins its four day run on Tuesday with Children’s day. Gates open at 7 a m and free admission for children with an accompanying adult. The program features horsepulling races acts and an evening band concert plus a WLS Smile-a-While show. Officials expect about 8 000 in premium money mainly for local exhibitors as Oshkosh prepares a gala Welcome decorations.

Boy Slayer to Plead Self Defense in Widow’s Slaying
Chicago telegram reports Roland Munroe a 15 year old choirboy confessed to beating 65 year old Mrs Aytes Roffeis to death with a hammer and her cane. He said the crime was impulsive for trinkets worth $15 and planned to sell them to a fence. He claimed self defense after she attacked him with scissors. Police quoted him saying the crime was a perfect one. He fled to the beach then home as authorities prepared questions.

Drowns in Silver Lake as Waves Swamp Motor Boat
John C. Klein 28 of Milwaukee drowned when waves swamped a motor boat on Silver Lake near Wantema Wisconsin. His companion Robert Radtke 17 of Ashippun reached shore safely. Berlin men recovered the body from 40 feet of water about 200 feet from shore. It will be sent to Milwaukee for services and burial.
