Mansfield Dead Great Actor Passes After Liver Disease

Richand Mansfield, famed stage star, died at his summer home Sev en Oaks Ocean avenue New London Conn after long illness from liver disease. He fell ill during a spring tour in Scranton Pa and received care in New York before brief optimism gave way to death. Mansfield’s career included Peer Gynt and The Parisian Romance on stage with a family at his side and tributes flowing from Washington to New London.

Richard Mansfield a Leading American Stage Figure

Richard Mansfield rose from supporting roles to star status after taking over Baron Chevral in Farm an Romance in 1883. He became a famed performer in America and England, later producing Cyrano de Bergerac and Peer Gynt. He married Beatrice Cameron in 1892, faced a nervous breakdown, and spent his final years at his New London summer home after touring and residing on Riverside in New York.

Drunk Plea Yields Seven-Year Sentence in Readstown Shooting

Henry Erickson of Readstown Vernon county pled guilty to assault with intent to murder. Judge Frust sentenced him to seven years at Waupun for shooting his sister in law Mrs Jennie Frébee near Readstown last Sunday. Erickson, a cripple, appeared on crutches after a drunken spree.
