E N Newhouse of Caledonia Minn auditor of a Houston company and a woman companion escaped injury when their roadster overturned on a steep Beland road near La Crosse Wisconsin. The car rolled 150 feet down a rocky hillside. occupants were thrown clear on the first roll and escaped with cuts and bruises.
A massive fire swept a Sperry Flour warehouse in South Vallejo destroying over 200000 dollars in wheat. Officials estimate total losses near 500000 dollars as Vallejo fire crews and Mare Island navy yard tugs helped contain the blaze without endangering the rest of the plant.
