Troops to Guard Canal Mobilized from San Antonio

The mobilization of a military force to guard the Panama canal began today with the Tenth Infantry under Col Henry A Greene ordered from San Antonio to the canal zone near the Pacific entrance as its permanent station. Will Pool Tobacco Crop In Lexington Action

Lexington Ky August 20 The Burley Tobacco society announced a pool will be formed to handle the 111 crop amounting to about 2000000 pounds. This is the first intimation of a pool since the board of control said no pool last March amid grower protests. Thousands of farmers did not grow any tobacco this year and fear a night riders return if pooling proceeds. Officials now decide big land owners favor a ten year pooling contract. A plan to build a Sufi warehouse in the city to house pooled products has spurred the effort.

First Speech at Mankato on President's Minnesota Swing
