General Gobin returns to headquarters and plans a further deployment as Major Gearhart orders troops to Lansford to quell disturbances. At Lansford and surrounding towns clashes leave several strikers injured. nonunion workers escorted by soldiers amid jeers from crowds. Government troops patrol, protect homes, and some mine operations resume as the wider strike persists in the region.
The Reading company sees little coal sold since the strike began except to aid certain manufacturers and charitable institutions. Conversely shipments from Schuylkill and Berks counties increase with 500 cars moving through Reading recently. Washeries along the Schuylkill river operate day and night. up to 100 cars daily. Mules moved from Lancaster and Chester counties are returning to mines as strike dynamics shift supply.
State troops reached Thurmond to keep order and protect property in the mine region. Assistant Adjutant General Hutson refused to report to operators at Rush Run, saying troops act under sheriff orders. Sheriff Daniels then moved three companies and signal corps to Rush Run to guard roads and people. No outbreak occurred. Governor's secretary reported utmost quiet but stressed need for troops. Total strength at Thurmond nearly 300, with potential for more. New River output yesterday reached 3800 tons, about one tenth of normal.

The Peter Power stock transfer dispute with Northern Pacific and Northern Securities ended abruptly as D. W. Guthrie, railroad counsel, moved for a sine die adjournment. No testimony occurred today. All testimony must be filed with the U.S. circuit court clerk in Minnesota by Monday next.

Washington Aug 24 Colombia formally demands Nicaragua explain its alleged participation in the revolution against Colombia. An automobile plunged from a Broadway street into a trench between Forty third and Forty fourth streets. Chauffeur Edward Morris was thrown into the trench with internal injuries and may die. Spectators crowded the scene as workmen rescued Morris and brought him to the street. Witnesses said a Broadway car crashed and spurred the crash into the subway. The accident drew about 2,000 onlookers from nearby theaters and restaurants.
A settlement between heirs of the late Mrs. Charney J. Fair and Mrs. Herman Qelrichs and Mrs. W. R. Vanderbilt Jr. assigns over 1.3 million dollars to the Fair heirs, with $300,009 paid by Herman Odrichs for his wife and sister-in-law to Mrs. Nelson. The First National Bank holds funds in Mrs. Nelson’s name, with remaining balance to be handed to the Fair heirs within a month. Spokane, Aug. 29 Chief of Police Reddy was a passenger on a street car held up by three masked men. A revolver in each hand forced the conductor to surrender cash and passengers to contribute. Reddy, unarmed, said he was powerless. Twenty minutes earlier another car was stopped by a masked robber but the motorman escaped by fleeing.
