Martial law is proclaimed in Jerusalem with curfew after 6 p m and censorship on telegrams abroad. A battalion of troops is reported dispatched to Palestine as rioting at the Wailing Wall escalates. Latest figures say eighteen Arabs and eleven Jews killed with more than 150 wounded.
Bulletin reports armed Arabs attacked the village of Moteza near Jerusalem, killing six. Rioting resumed after a morning lull with three more Arabs killed, raising deaths to 21 Arabs and 17 Jews. Many others wounded. 150 previously listed. Fifty British soldiers arrived by air from Egypt to reinforce British police.
Across Jerusalem fighting between Jews and Arabs intensified following the Wailing Wall controversy. Reports from The Berlin Vossische Zeitung's Wolfgang Von Weiss describe knife wounds and casualties including eight Jews and three Arabs killed, with dozens wounded.
