Four Killed In Accidents In Appleton

Two traffic deaths within five hours mar Appleton's two year record. Edward Ward 72 of Kaukauna died at St Elizabeth Hospital from a fractured skull after a car truck crash on East Newberry Street and Walter Avenue Tuesday. Bernard J Hruscka 22 Kaukauna drove the truck and skidded into Ward's car. Robert W Pompa 22 of Appleton died at St Elizabeth Hospital after his car crashed into a tree on West College Avenue near Mason Street, his vehicle bursting into flames. Pompa's brah was removed by officials at the scene. Ward, born August 15 1892 in Kaukauna, served 33 years with the Kaukauna Fire Department before retiring in 1956.

Two Killed In Freak Train Mishap

In Kingman Arizona a freight train shed a chunk of steel tubing that crashed through a window of the Santa Fe Super Chief passenger train. Two people were killed and ten taken to Kingman Hospital with five hospitalized. The dead were Marsha Diane McGaw 16 of San Diezs California and Mrs Terri C Rittleson 33 of Barron. Four others sustained injuries and were treated or released.
