Exmouth England August 29 the national conference of the miners federation of Great Britain decided 376 to 254 that the British Labor party should not be represented at the International anarchist conference at Stockholm. This reverses a prior miners federation decision.
Russellville Kentucky August 20 sheriff James N Taylor and County Judge J W Edward were arrested by a deputy US marshal on conspiring to violate the selective draft law. Both released on bond of 5000 each. Taylor allegedly offered exemptions for politics support. Edward denies charges.
Whites at Win party arrives for noon welcome in Milwaukee as 35 automobiles carry more than 200 boosters. A rough day due to a death casts a shadow on the first half, but crowds of about 1,000 greet the visitors. Mayor Henan of 3wauker urges fair support in Milwaukee. The motor caravan left City Hall Rogers, Milwaukee, at 730 this morning for a 1090 mile tour.

Washington Aug 20 A man claiming to be the son of Secretary Daniels defrauds naval officers and others in Washington. The impostor borrowed money from a ship paymaster and from a school principal, signing as Herbert J Daniels. He sought an Edison visit and encampment at Montclair Academy amid other schemes. The Navy confirms multiple frauds and cites a July date for the final deception.
Maryland's labor draft law takes effect with compulsory work registration. In Baltimore up to noon today twenty men registered while the unemployed face mandatory work assignments. The act punishes noncompliance and promises aid for those unable to find work, branding idleness as a threat to the state.
