Neenah Car Crash Injures Youth In 936 Foot Slide

Neenah police reported a morning crash where a 1955 auto skidded 936 feet, tore across lawns, struck fences and trees, and ended in a vacant lot on Winneconne Avenue. Driver Edith A. Burnett, 62, from Manitowoc Street, and Carol J. Skifstad, 25, Winneconne Avenue, were involved. Another collision occurred at Green Bay Road and Winneconne Avenue at 11 12 a.m. with drivers Russell Rogge and Walter Casperson.

Woman Arrested For Possession After Parking Dispute

Conny Jo Smith, 25, confronted Sheriff Deputy Al Stett while he issued a traffic citation behind a car blocking a driveway in Los Angeles. A marijuana cigarette was found on the license folder and Smith was booked on suspicion of possession of narcotics.

Absentee ballots available in Neenah and Menasha

Neenah and Menasha voters may obtain absentee ballots for the September 8 primary. City Clerk Harre Kind announced extended hours this week and registration closes August 26. Clark County Comptroller R V Hauser also says ballots are available in Neenah through September 7 with no mailed ballots after September 4.

Neenah Police Pistol Team Wins Wisconsin Rapids Invite

The Neenah Police Department Class D pistol team topped its division at the Wisconsin Rapids invitational shoot with a total 1047. Members R A Schultz Ray Boileau Gene Tuchscherer and John Towns led individual scores and Schultz won rapid fire with 262 while Boileau took second with 257. A field of 74 shooters from Stevens Point Fond du Lac Oshkosh Madison Green Bay Appleton Neenah and Wisconsin Rapids competed.

Wisconsin highway deaths pile up in weekend toll

A string of fatal accidents across Wisconsin left twelve people dead. Victims include William Smoier, 22, of Chicago, and Robert Christensen, 23, of Racine, in a single high speed crash. others died in Trempealeau, Sheboygan, Milwaukee, and surrounding counties. Authorities note miscellaneous vehicle overturns and a wagon tractor incident as part of the weekend toll.

Manasha man injured by passing locomotive at work

Dominick Pawlowski, 30, of 915 Main Street Menasha, was taken by Neenah Fire Department ambulance to Theda Clark Hospital at 7 30 am after injuring his back in a reflex action when a towing locomotive passed near his work on Gar Reid Avenue. He is employed by Menasha Car and listed in serious condition.

Five Youths Admit Six Bicycle Thefts In Neenah

Neenah police say five youths admitted involvement in stealing about six bicycles over the past month. The group used parts to power demolition races at Island Park and spread the dismantled wrecks to a local garage, with a sixth youth admitting participation in races but not theft.

Bus Disaster Kills 17 in French Alps Return Voyage

A bus carrying 73 people including 49 adults plunged 220 feet near Bourg Saint Maurice in the French Alps during a Shepherd’s Festival trip.
